🔥 “Each Group Lit Its Own Fire: Ideological Lights Instead of the Qur'an’s Light”

🔥 Fires That Imitate the Light of Truth

The Qur’an makes a clear distinction between those who seek and find the path of truth, and those who merely polish their assumptions and present them as truth. Surah al-Baqarah 2:17 presents this with a striking metaphor:

“Their example is like that of one who kindled a fire. When it illuminated all around him, Allah took away their light and left them in darkness—unable to see.”
(2:17)

The fire here represents a light that appears to shine, but is not nūr (divine light). It is not a true guide, but a false illumination.

Today, many sects and ideological groups that associate themselves with Islam have also kindled their own fires—calling others to themselves, presenting their own writings as wisdom, their leaders as guides, and their interpretations as if they were revelation.

🌑 Refuge in Speculative Lights: The Fires of Sects, Communities, and Orders

Throughout history, communities that took pride in being an ummah have sought unity not in the Qur’an, but in their own written and oral traditions, turning into factions. Each group has:

  • Written its own handbook and called people to it (cf. Baqarah 2:79),

  • Taken prophets and leaders as lords beside Allah (cf. Tawbah 9:31),

  • Divided the Qur’an and used its parts for personal gain (cf. Hijr 15:91),

  • And proudly sat around the fire of their own making.

This attitude opposes the Qur’an’s call to “devote the religion purely to Allah” (cf. Bayyinah 98:5). Because this religion is not the backyard of a person, group, or ideology—it is a universal call for all humanity: Turn to Allah.

🚫 Rejection of Those Who Say “The Qur’an Is Enough”: Attacking Light with Fire

Today, if someone calls only to the Qur’an, they are met with:

  • “How can you do without hadiths?”

  • “Are you against madhhabs?”

  • “Who are you to understand the Qur’an?”

But the one who calls to the Qur’an seeks not the shadows around the fire, but to walk with the light of divine guidance. However, fire-worshipers often see this light as a threat or mock it outright. Because every group says:

“There can be no better way than ours.”
In saying this, they have in fact associated their own books with Allah.

The “People of the Book” of Muhammad: Torah Is Gone, Jewish Jurisprudence Remains

One of the Qur’an’s most profound warnings is:

“They took their scholars and monks as lords besides Allah...”
(Qur’an 9:31)

This warning now applies to the ummah, who have become the “People of the Book of Muhammad.”
Books of jurisprudence, hadith collections, and sectarian doctrines have been placed above the Qur’an, which is either not read at all, or only interpreted through those texts.

Jews and Christians once made the same mistake—now this ummah follows their path.

🕯 The True Light: The Qur’an Itself

The Qur’an openly declares itself as light:

“There has come to you from Allah a light and a clear Book.”
(Ma'idah 5:15)

Light guides.
Fire only offers temporary illumination—but eventually it burns.

Therefore, those who devote religion purely to Allah:

  • Do not write alternative books; they transmit revelation uncorrupted,

  • Do not form sects; they invite to the Qur’an,

  • Do not sanctify leaders; they submit only to Allah.

🕊 Conclusion: One Call, One Path, One Light

A true revival of tawhid today can only begin with a return to these three principles:

  1. Making the Qur’an the standard and judge,

  2. Devoting the religion purely to Allah (ikhlas),

  3. Choosing the divine light as the guide, instead of speculative lights.

Because:

“Call upon Allah with sincere devotion to Him alone. Only those who do so are rightly guided.”
(Summarized from Zumar 39:3 and 39:17–18)

⚠️ Reminder

The views, interpretations, and conclusions presented in this text are the result of human effort.

Please evaluate each statement within the full context of the Qur’an—weigh it with its guidance, test it, and verify it.

The only true measure of truth is Allah’s Book.
If there is error, it is ours; if there is truth, it belongs to Allah.
