 🎱 THE EIGHTH DAY (Hereafter) The Eighth Day: Cosmic Transition and Reflections on Surah Al-Haqqah, Verse 17 1. The Phases of Creation and the Cosmic Interpretation of Time In many verses of the Qur’an, it is stated that the heavens and the earth were created in six “days” (Al-A‘raf 7:54; Hud 11:7; Qaf 50:38). The term “day” here, rather than referring to a 24-hour period, symbolizes cosmic eras and a gradual process of creation. In this context, the six days point to a planned and phased formation of the universe. Following these six stages, the Qur’an describes the current state of the universe as a testing ground. This phase can be considered the seventh stage. It is a transitional period where human free will, moral responsibility, and testing come to the forefront. In this sense, the “seventh day” represents a time of waiting and trial—a phase where creation is complete, but the final outcome has yet to be revealed. 2.
